Style Inspired: ‘Jersey Boys’ Bring Back 60’s Fashion

With the opening of the new film 'Jersey Boys' just a few days away I was thinking about how much fashion reflects back to the past, especially the 1960’s! That was a time of big change and fashion reflected it. Right now the 60’s are having a moment in fashion again. It’s a nod to mod but with a more classic touch.

A moment in time: The Four Seasons in the 1960's 

Speaking of classic, Jersey Boys tells the story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons. 

Looking back at their story of their trials and triumphs you hear songs that influenced a generation, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Dawn,” “Rag Doll,” “Bye Bye Baby,” “Who Loves You,” and many more. Also watching the film you get an insight into the changes in fashion from the early 60’s to the later part of the decade.

Director Clint Eastwood took the look and feel of this time to the big-screen based on a version of the Tony Award-winning musical “Jersey Boys.” There is no doubt that these boys were dapper and looked polished on stage. But lets talk about the ladies! In addition to flower power in the US, the UK influenced fashion globally.  The London look of the 60's was defined by clean lines, boxy shapes, structured materials and mini hemlines, all evoking the quintessential Mod style.
