Travel Beauty: How I Tamed My Tresses On A Road Trip In Texas!
Just this week I embarked on a road trip across Texas! The goal of the trip was visit 3 major cities: Dallas, Austin and San Antonio; try new things and make new friends along the way!
I was so excited to partner up with my girl Lizza aka XOXOLizza on our awesome travel and beauty adventure. We took turns in the driver seat of the Toyota Corolla, Prius and Camry. During our travels we got to check out a Best Western Hotel in each city.
Of course we made time for beauty, trying out some favorites and new products from John Frieda to tame out tresses! We put our hair to the test on this trip and cant wait to share tip and tricks (and cheats) we used on the road.
For details on my road trip journey see the bottom of this post for links.

As soon as I landed in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport I realized that keeping my hair under control would be a huge challenge. Texas in the summer months is hot and humid with temps averaging 97-102 (at least while I was in town). Over the next week I was on the road driving with precious little time for getting glam. However pretty much every night there were networking events, parties and even a gala. The name of the game would be humidity defying style!
Here is my in-flight before photo.
And here is my 1st night party look!
Want to know my recipe for luscious curls on the road?
1. I created a great foundation for the hairstyle by washing my hair with John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Start Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. While my hair was still wet, I applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Six Effects Serum for a frizz-free base, since this multi-purpose product has six different benefits in each drop. I love that it not only smooths and hydrates hair but also provides heat protection, which is so essential.
3. Afterward, I untangled my hair with a vent brush and blow-dried it using a big, round brush. (Note, this is the part I am not so good at but I also let it partially air dry to cut down on time with the blow-drier).
4. I divided the hair in different sections and used John Frieda 1 inch curling iron to create tight soft curls to harmonize with my makeup and dress.
5. After I curled each section, I applied a couple drops of John Frieda Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir, which is a personal favorite of mine to eliminate frizz and add shine.
6. To finalize the look and lock in the waves I used John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hairspray, perfect to fight the humidity that was present and also to keep the look intact.
All products are available on the John Frieda Website.
