New York Celebrates Three Kings Day
I was excited to cover the 38th annual Three Kings Day parade. I was even more thrilled to find out I would be walking alongside the 'Book of Life' float, complete with 'La Muerta,' as queen.
What's more is the colorful puppets, parrandas, music, and dancing on this magical day. Yes, there were even live camels.
The below freezing temp and snowy weather did not stop the party! Over thousands of revelers joined in on the parade fun in East Harlem.
The parade route began at 106th Street and Lexington Avenue as the snow started coming down. The crowds grew and joined in on the dancing at the parades end at 115th Street and Park Avenue.
This year organizers honored the founder of the Three Kings Day Parade and former director of El Museo del Barrio, Jack Agüeros (Sept. 2, 1934 – May 4, 2014), who recently passed away this spring. For more info: click here.
What do you think of 'La Muerta's' costume?
