A Night of Empowerment & Celebration: Hispanic Scholarship Fund's Alumni Hall of Fame Gala

Hispanic Scholarship Fund's Alumni Hall of Fame Gala (AHOF) event, in New York City, honors distinguished Latinos whose personal journeys to success exemplify the goals and values of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, as well as one, outstanding corporate partner.  Notable past inductees include Rosie Rios (Treasurer of the United States), Dr. Richard Carmona (U.S. Surgeon General), Anthony Romero (Executive Director, ACLU), Raul Yzaguirre (former United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic), Jose Huizar (Member of the Los Angeles City Council), Luis Ubinas (Former President, Ford Foundation), and Cesar Conde (Executive Vice President, NBCUniversal).

There were over 400 in attendance including national and local business leaders, elected officials and educators. I attended to celebrate, interview honorees and catch up with some of my friends attending the gala. 

Every year HSF inducts two HSF Alums, one non-HSF Alumni honoree, and one corporate partner. This years inductees include: Corporate Honoree, Toyota Motor Sales, USA; Honorary Inductee, Mr. & Mrs. Miranda, parents of actor and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda; and HSF Alumni Inductees Syndicated Columnist, Ruben Navarette, Jr. and Professor of Management, Loyola Marymount University, Angélica S. Gutiérrez, Ph.D..

Vargas, President & Chief Executive Officer Hispanic Scholarship Fund; Margarita Flores, Vice President, Community Affairs Anheuser-Busch; and James McNamara, Chairman, Board of Directors, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Founder and Chairman, Panamax Films LL; Deborah Smith, Senior Vice President- Community Affairs Manager Wells Fargo Foundation; and Fernando Londono
