Lincoln Spotlights: The World Premiere 'Anesthesia' at the Tribeca Film Festival

Written by: Jennifer Ross

Always happy to accompany my Life-Size to an event in any capacity, this time as her camera-man at the Tribeca Film Festival Red Carpet for the World Premiere of the Film ‘Anesthesia.’ I was probably a bit too jazzed up in my black thigh high suede boots and emerald statement necklace to be a camera person, but “When In Tribeca”…..So arrived early and set up camp with the rest of the press and it was not too much of a wait before the stars of the film began to arrive.

First up, Gloria Reuben who clearly drank a vile of that potion Isabella Rosselini was serving up in ‘Death Becomes Her’ because that woman has not aged in about 25 years. She was wearing a black fitted v-neck dress with ankle strap heels and a  jewel encrusted mini clutch. She was wearing next to no makeup and looked FLAWLESS. Unfortunately being behind the “fence” manning the cam I could not hear any of the questions LS asked Gloria, so I could only assume what was going on thru body language. Ms. Reuben was very calm and cool, very poised. She is one of those actress’ that has been in the game since the early 90s, and although not a household name, she has managed to build an ever growing resume of eclectic roles both behind and in front of the camera.

Next up was Jessica Hecht. Hecht is another actress that has managed to cultivate a very varied acting resume without have to deal with the extreme perils of fame. Hecht strikes me as a real actor’s actor, someone who has had the chance to work with everybody over the years from Bryan Cranston to Woody Allen. She is warm and candid wearing a pants suit with lightly tossled, soft hair and minimal makeup that allows her lovely skin glow. So badly did I want LS or even myself to jump in and ask her “What does David Schwimmer smell like?” (From her days on ‘Friends’) or “Do you ever go to sleep and find Morgan Freeman is doing the voiceover in your dream?” (Worked together on 2012 Film ‘The Magic Fof Belle Isle’) Maybe next time……

I was most taken with the impression I got from Sam Waterston. Sam Waterston is a rare breed that holds the title of both celebrity and actor. He is most well known for his work on ‘Law & Order’ but he is also a seasoned Shakespearean actor. I managed to actually catch some audible bits of his interview with LeAura where he came off as both charming and energetic in a very subdued way. When LS told him that she liked his jacket he asked her if she wanted it? And when asked what advice to give to young people trying to get into acting he semi-jokingly responded, “Find something else you like to do!” I don’t know if I will take SW’s advice but I wouldn’t not snatch up his jacket. (Note to LS- When Assistant D.A. Jack McCoy offers you his jacket, YOU TAKE IT! You may be penalized in a court of law otherwise…)

Other red carpet highlights included-Mickey Sumner (Sting and Trudie Styler’s daughter) shining in a plunging neck navy Jason Wu dress…Young Co-star Ben Konigsberg’s response to a compliment on his tie- “Thanks it’s my Dad’s”….. Glen Close scurrying down the red carpet as LeAura yelled at her that she liked her shoes..…….And the film’s writer/director Tim Blake Nelson and his wife Lisa Benavides doing their best Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara schpeal for the cameras.

So there you have it folks.  Just a little introspective from your garden variety camera gal wearing thigh-high boots while taping her Life-Sized partner in crime interview award winning actors talk about their craft on a rainy April Wednesday eve in TriBeca. Ross OUT.
