Free AntiGravity Aerial Yoga Trial Classes in Honor of International Yoga Day

AntiGravity® Fitness announces free AntiGravity Aerial Yoga classes at its New York Studio for newcomers in celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2015. AntiGravity invites people to take flight with AntiGravity® Aerial Yoga, offering  AntiGravity Fundamentals: Open Level classes, at no cost from June 22 – 27, 2015.

The evolutionary mind/body practice created by movement pioneer and inventor Christopher Harrison, elevated yoga into the air, giving birth to a wholly new category in the ancient discipline. AntiGravity Aerial Yoga combines traditional yoga poses with moves from the aerial arts, Pilates and dance conditioning with the use of an original invention, the Harrison AntiGravity Hammock. It is considered the first complete program in the emerging field of “suspension training.”  The technique is unique in that it allows for zero-compression inversions and forces alignment while reconnecting body and mind.

With the help of the Harrison AntiGravity Hammock, students are able to achieve better form, enjoy total body toning and reap the numerous health benefits of zero-compression inversions. The practice’s signature inversions relieve spinal pressure and help with:

  • Back & neck pain
  • Balance and agility
  • Joint mobility for better posture
  • Normalizing metabolism to lose weight

During the course of the practice, participants conquer basic fears and discover a new level of self-confidence while benefiting from a solid workout.

“AntiGravity Aerial Yoga is the bridge that brings the curious to yoga,” says Mr. Harrison. “New practitioners try class solely because they want a fun, new experience. They return craving the connection between the mind, body and spirit. Yogis who discover AntiGravity Aerial Yoga fall in love with the intelligent practice as it elevates, enhances and evolves their own regime to new and exciting heights.”

Harrison first discovered yoga at an Ayurvedic center in India where he studied in the 1990s. During his quest to find relief for his own joint pain, he adapted traditional yoga poses and movements, taking them up into the air with a silk hammock. An avid practitioner, he adapted his gymnastic and dance training, to create the next evolution of yoga.

“Our bodies and minds need to be challenged in new ways,” says Mr. Harrison. “With the Harrison AntiGravity Hammock, AntiGravity Aerial Yoga does just this by increasing the changes in the brain’s neural pathways. As part of one’s yogic practice of unattachment, for International Yoga Day, try something new; your body and mind will open and your life will expand.”
