Why Glossy is So Flossy – The Low Down on Glossybox
By Jennifer Ross
In the past few years there have been a slew of “beauty boxes” popping up in mailboxes all over the the land. These “goodie bags” require a monthly fee and in return the consumer receives several deluxe sized products of the latest and greatest the industry has to offer. So what makes one box different from the next and most importantly, what makes Glossybox a cut above the rest?
On May 20th I went to a little cocktail soiree in Tribeca for Glossybox. This chic little mixer was fully equipped with a smattering of PR cool kids, an array of beauty industry players, and a good sprinkling of young downtown professionals. I managed to find myself in the middle of a little impromptu Glossybox 101 Crash Course being given by a PR Team Member. She gave me the lowdown on GB and let me know that GB is the only international BB, currently located in 10 countries. Also, Glossy has a team of over 150 scouring the map from New York to Tokyo looking for the “next big thing.” And while they have forged and maintained firm working relationships with many luxe and niche brands alike, they remain in tune with the masses to support their wants and needs via a top notch customer service system.
After a bit more mingle drink and nibble, I left with my very first Glossybox and very first beauty box in general. Somehow I managed to resist breaking into my stash before arriving home, but as soon as I got settled in, I dug in. Here is what my first Glossy looked like and a breakdown of the products I received.
