Foodie Diaries: Behind the Scenes At Wafels & Dinges
In New York we love our quick & convenient meals and snack. So when I was invited to go to the Wafels & Dinges HQ in Brooklyn, NY I was excited to get a sneak peak into deliciousness.
First, the brand story in case you are not yet familiar. From the Wafels & Dinges site:
Since 2007, Wafels & Dinges has conquered the hearts, smiles and appetites of New Yorkers with its bright yellow waffle-trucks and carts driving around the city, receiving great praise from food critics and the public.
In addition to our mobile experience, we have expanded into a brick & mortar café in the East Village, as well as a kiosk on Herald Square in front of Macy's, a kiosk in Bryant Park, and our newest kiosk in Brooklyn's Borough Hall.
Our concept attracts followers from all over the world, having been featured by numerous local and international media outlets. In 2009 Wafels & Dinges won the prestigious “Vendy Award” for “Best Mobile Dessert Vendor” in New York City. In 2013 Wafels & Dinges was chosen “Best Belgian Waffle” in New York City, just to name a few awards.
While we are known as a quirky and fun experience, we are uncompromising about the quality of our products and customer satisfaction. We have built a world-class operational system that easily supports high-paced, high-volume business, which is essential for logistically complex and high traffic areas. Wafels & Dinges is here to generate a new wave of excitement among local and international visitors of the markets, young and old. Consistent with our experience in NYC Parks, Wafels & Dinges is certainly a key attraction.
I met "Special Envoy for Wafles" Thomas DeGeest and Rossanna Figuera and learned about how these waffles are made and got into it on Periscope.
I even got to jump into one of the trucks. All while learning about the 2016 Winter Specials you’ll want to try.
