The Full Service Soho Salon That Won't Break The Bank, Marie-Lou&D

By Jennifer Ross

Anybody who lives in Manhattan knows that if you go to Soho for a haircut, or any other beauty service for that matter, it's gonna cost ya! Enter Marie-Lou&D on West Broadway, a new full service beauty spa where the services are affordable. I moseyed on down a few sunny Saturday's ago on a January morning to get my hair did and get the low on hair spring trends from some chic pros.

SPRING HAIR TRENDS

Cut - "The Lob" We are living in the age of "The Lob." "The Lob is so popular because it's easily non-committal," says Chris Brescia, veteran NYC hairdresser who so graciously cut my overgrown Sister Wife Hair. "You can change it in one sitting, and it can be easily transitioned into another cut, like long layers. Moving into the spring months, we will see people evening out their lob's in the front, or going with a side bang."

Color- Platinum. "Everbody is goin' platinum for the warmer months" Brescia says. Platinum hair sure isn't for the faint of heart, nor for someone who does not have time for upkeep, but it sure is fun. The cool thing about this color is that it has a certain versatility to it. As far as styling goes, you can go Old Hollywood Jean Harlow with finger waves, or 90s Seattle Grunge a la Courtney Love with messy tousled bed head. When it comes to dying your hair this statement shade, the color speaks for itself no matter what cut or style you decide to go with.

Style- Anything goes. "There is no end to what people will and will not do to their hair these days," according to Brescia.  The sky really is the limit as to what people will do to their hair stylistically speaking. But right now most folks on trend are opting for waves, curls, and braids. The greatness that lies in a hair style is that it comes and goes with the day. You can curl one day and then braid the next. Or if you're so inclined, rock both looks at the same time if you so wish.
