Feminist Artists Inspire The Tome Fall Winter 2016 Collection

For the Tome FW16, designers Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo were inspired by the feminist art practices of American born Barbara Kruger and Lebanese born Palestinian Mona Hatoum.

The blood red, black, white and grey newsprint humor of Kruger’s sloganeering of U.S. culture intercepts with the dark, razor sharp politics of Hatoum’s sculptural commentary upon Middle Eastern (and global) issues. The denim in this collection has been sourced in New York City and up-cycled.

The completely natural undyed shearling is from Vermont and a direct byproduct of farming. Shirts from our overstock have been resurrected and given new life. The evil eye is present to ward off bad spirits.
