4 Tips for Deep Cleaning this Spring
Though we’re cleaning more than ever, we’re oftentimes forgetting to go deeper. With spring around the corner, it’s time to start rethinking that.
The term “deep clean” is used in many cleaning products, but what exactly does it mean? Regular cleaning is done to maintain a visible level of cleanliness – surface-level cleaning. Deep cleaning is a heavier, more focused cleaning that goes beyond, with an emphasis on loosening and removing heavy dirt buildup while focusing on cleaning areas not regularly focused on. It can be thought of as a “reset.” We asked the experts to share their top spring cleaning tips.

Clean regularly, disinfect only when necessary. Disinfecting is an important part of your routine, but those kinds of cleaners don’t need to be used all the time. Though floors make up the largest, most-used areas in our home, deep cleaning is many times forgotten in these areas. Deep cleaning floors is one of the most foundational steps to creating a healthy home and improving the air quality through the removal of dirt, dust, and allergens that get into the seams and crevices. The experts at Bona share just how to get that deep clean? To start, get rid of dust with a microfiber dusting pad, dry mop, broom, or hardwood floor vacuum. Wet mop floors with an effective microfiber pad to get rid of dirt and grime, limiting the amount of cleaning solution as the excess liquid can damage a hardwood floor. Always be sure to clean and mop floors in the direction of the floorboards and focus on small areas, changing or rinsing the mop pad occasionally to get a deeper clean.
For worn, damaged or deep scratches, contact a Bona Certified Craftsmen to speak about how to best fix larger damaged areas on the floor. While there are some popular hacks for repairing floor scratches, they are temporary fixes and could end up damaging your floor in the long run.
