Backstage New York Fashion Week 2011 with Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzieri of RSession Tools
New York Fashion Week, Fall 2011 Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzieri, top runway hairstylists and innovative creators of cult hair products under their RSession Tools line, invite you backstage for a peek into the hottest hair trends they created for New York Fall 2011 Fashion Week.
Preppy Hair Gone Edgy
February 11, 2011, Perry Ellis
Rizzieri fashioned “Connecticut boys with an edge” look for the Perry Ellis Fall 2011
collection. The male models’ hair was styled with volume at the roots and sprayed with
volumizing root boost to create lift throughout. The Rsession Tools’ Runway
Series PinPoint Straightening Iron was utilized during the styling process to
ensure that models’ hair was completely straight.
Rock n’ Roll Chic
February 11, 2011, Nicole Miller
Ryan & Rizzieri designed tough girl hair with a futuristic vibe for Nicole Miller’s
collection. Hair was parted in the middle, a volumizing spray was applied and then
locks were flat-ironed with the Rsession Tools’ Runway Series PinPoint
Straightening Iron. To achieve the perfect rocker feel, dry shampoo was sprayed
over the entire head, with a focus on the ends to add additional texture. The look was
completed with a shine spray at the crown to simulate a wet look at the roots.
February 12, 2011, Richard Chai Love Men’s
Ryan & Rizzieri gave models a “groomed and then disheveled” appearance for the
Richard Chai Love Men’s show. Using Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray and Sumo
Tech liberally, they created a matte texture and then ensured that frizz around the
hairline was tamed with the Rsession Tools’ Root Control. The look was finished
off with an overall application of dry shampoo to make hair look rough and slept-in.
February 14, 2011, Kevork Kiledjian
Ryan and Rizzieri kept hair “cool but not glamorous” for Kevork Kiledjian’s first
NYFW runway show for his eponymous women’s line. Hair was parted in the
center and then blow-dried with the Rsession Tools’ Bamboo Collection
Round Styling Brushes. To add length and volume, Innophillia Clip-N-Go
Extensions from Ricky’s NYC were clipped in to the models’ hair. Next, a large
barreled curling iron was used to curl sections of hair, which were then
individually pinned into place to set. Just before the show, the clips were taken out
and hair was brushed out to reveal a fluffy texture and then sprayed with hairspray
to hold the style in place.
February 16, 2011, Milly by Michelle Smith
Ryan teamed up with Catwalk by TIGI and gave models a cool, loose 70’s vibe for
the Milly by Michelle Smith Fall 2011 show. Hair was parted in the middle and
Catwalk by TIGI Fast Fixx Style Prep and Your Highness Root Boost
were layered throughout the hair to protect and create volume and texture.
Large round styling brushes from Rsession Tools’ Bamboo Brush Collection
were used to blow out hair and then sections were curled using a Hot Tools 2”
barreled curling iron from Ricky’s NYC and pinned up to set. Completing
the look was TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo, which was
sprayed on as hair was taken down and brushed out for additional texture, and
Catwalk by TIGI Sleek Mystique Look Lock Hairspray to hold the style.
