Edgy Elegance Maison Fall/Winter 2011

Once upon a time, masculine silhouettes weren’t fit for a feminine frame. Maison’s FW  2011 collection puts an end to that fairy tale, as this season designer Wendy Wong pairs dominant prints with menswear-inspired pieces. It’s Wendy Wong with a wink and with a rebellious twinkle in her eye, reinterpreting Maison’s girly persona via men’s tailoring.  

Wong’s strategically-placed details allow for an edge of sexiness. Mystifying shades of burnt orange and deep plum amplify her collection.  Slouchy-chic cardigans, figure flattering dresses, double-cuffed button ups and looser day-to-night silk create a collection that Wong calls, “street-chic and sophisticated.”

Topping this season’s styles are:

• Twilight – Emphasizing Wong’s urban-edge theme is this sand-washed silk number. The dress is made to turn heads with intricate open-back detailing, allowing for a kind- of sexy, kind-of raw monochromatic must-have. • Impulse – Paying homage to her hometown roots, Wong intertwines the signature Canadian maple-leaf symbol into a feminine blouse. This 100% silk piece offers just the right balance between masculine and feminine with roll-up cuffs and button detailing wearable for the office or a casual night. • Opera – The sophisticated allure that Wong introduced in her spring collection is back this season with a refreshing touch of chic. • Wild At Heart – A bolt of power with a burst of energy, Wong shocks the stock with a crystal electric ball inspired frock.
