DO IT IN THE GARMENT CENTER: Rae Francis x SVPR CLVB Collaboration

A movement started in 2008 and spearheaded by top American designers like Nanette Lepore and Anna Sui, has reached a peak this year as the city unveiled plans in late 2012 to revamp the neighborhood with a 10 year plan aimed to strengthen the Garment District and update the area for today's fashion designers and manufacturers, allowing for a tremendous boost to the city’s revenue and therefore a huge boost to the local economy.

image003mMore and more local designers have become adamant supporters of the movement, and with the results of the recent presidential election showing America’s desire for a push to source locally, such a movement has never been more important. New York-based designers like Ariel Lilly and Christina Conigilio of contemporary womenswear line Rae Francis (www.RaeFrancis.com) have made this a core mission of their brand, ensuring all materials are sourced locally from the New York Garment center and all production is kept there as well.

image005mReaffirming their commitment to saving New York City’s Garment Center, contemporary womenswear line, Rae Francis has teamed up with fellow New York streetwear brand SVPR CLVB (www.SVPRCLVB.com) this spring to introduce a limited edition range of unisex T-shirts designed to bring attention to making things locally in New York’s Garment Center and also to benefit the Save the Garment Center Foundation through a 20% donation from the sale of each individual T-shirt, which will be available on both brand’s e-commerce websites.

The New York-based designers, Ariel Lilly and Christina Coniglio of Rae Francis along with Evinn Quinn of SVPR CLVB have put helping the local economy at the forefront of their companies’ missions, and this collaboration has taken their dedication one step further by announcing this mission loud and proud on a limited edition T-shirt, which reads “Do it in the Garment Center.”

The 100% cotton made in New York t-shirts will be available starting April 1st, 2013 at $30.00 each from RaeFrancis.com and SVPRCLVB.com, and 20% will go directly to the Save the Garment Center Foundation. The style will be available in white and black with gold lettering, and can be viewed here: http://raefrancis-shop.com/collections/frontpage/products/do-it-in-the-garment-center-t-shirt
