Earth Day Celebration: Aveda Attempts Guinness World Record

The Aveda Institute is participating in a global 24-hour cut-a-thon on Earth Day, April 22. Aveda stylists in salons worldwide – from Tokyo to Sydney, Moscow to London and New York to Los Angeles – are volunteering their time to offer haircuts in return for a donation to the annual Aveda Earth Month campaign. Visit www.Aveda.com for more details.

THE AIM IS TO SET A GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR MOST MONEY RAISED FOR A CHARITY BY HAIRCUTS IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD.

Local charity, Clean Ocean Action, will receive 100% of the proceeds from the event and representatives will be on hand to share their work with event attendees. The goal of Clean Ocean Action is to restore, improve, and protect the water quality of the ocean and local water ways in NY/NJ.

There will be a silent auction with donated items from local restaurants, shops, galleries, staff and students. Betel restaurant will provide catering with an authentic approach to Southeast Asian flavors and ingredients.

This event is part of a global effort by the Aveda network of beauty professionals to raise $5 million for clean water in April 2013.
