Are you ready for Spring? I know I am!
Recently I got a lesson on 'making it work' for less with Tim Gunn and P&G North American beauty ambassador Marsha Chilko at Walgreens.
I got a semi-private tour of the Walgreens Flagship Union Square store in NY. 
Did you know this Walgreens location has about 2,000 sq ft dedicated to beauty?!
It's easy to look fabulous this spring and save on new must-haves from Olay, Crest (this is the yummiest toothpaste I've ever tried), and Head & Shoulders at Walgreens.
Tip 1.
Don't Be A Beauty Snob
Walgreens offers so many wonderful skincare and beautifying products, you'd be foolish not to make it your first stop in trying out new things.
After touring the store and learning about some of the new and exciting P&G beauty products, I sat down with Tim Gunn, and we talked style, trends and more. "What I love about fashion today is that its so incredibly diverse. With the exception of petite and women above a size 12, for whom fashion can be challenging, but I am intent on changing that."
That brings us to:
Tip 2.
"I always say you need to be who you are. You tell the world who you are by how your dress. How do you want the world to see you?"
If you think that’s shallow or untrue, think about it. Tim has heard it before and explains “If someone you don’t know comes into a room what is the first thing you notice about them? Probably their gender and how their presenting themselves.” That means both clothing and grooming the two are “inextricable” according to Tim. (side note: I’ve always admired his vocabulary)
Tip 3.
The key to getting fashion right is about mastering principles:
Silhouette, Proportion and Fit when these are in harmony and balance you will always look great.
Bonus:
“A trend is only good if it works for you.”
Tim says he hates the resurgence of the gladiator sandal, they are impossible to get on. “No busy woman has time to lace them up!”
Recalling a recent TV appearance when asked about trends he explained he is anti-trend and you need to inventory your closet, etc. Then Nina Garcia declares her spring must have is the the lace-up gladiator shoe.
Ah, fashion it’s a world of constant contradiction. Thanks to Tim Gunn, Walgreens & P&G beauty for sharing how to ‘make it work’ for spring (and for less)!
