Road Trip: Ski Adventure to Lake Placid in the 2021 Chevy Suburban
It’s time for a road trip! There’s nothing like a weekend getaway, especially a fun winter ski adventure. Recently, I headed out of New York City to go all the way upstate to beautiful Lake Placid, NY. I asked the team at Chevrolet to set me up with the ultimate drive experience. Let’s talk about the star of this trip the 2021 Chevy Suburban.
As the longest-running nameplate in automotive history at 85 years, the Chevy Suburban established the segment and remains a trusted partner for customers who need maximum space. Now, this iconic SUV has been fully redesigned to carry its legacy into a new era. Before I hit the road to Lake Placid let’s take a closer look at the interior. The vehicle I am driving is the 2021 Suburban High-Country which can be distinguished by its unique High Country signature grill, sill plates, and interior stitching.
KEY VEHICLE FEATURES
▪ Trim Options: To make sure every driver can find their perfect mix of comfort and utility, the All- New Suburban offers six trims with their own unique style and capabilities, including the top-of-the-line comforts of High Country, the street style of RST and the legendary off-road capability of Z71.
▪ Performance: The All-New Suburban offers the most advanced available suspension in its class with an independent rear suspension, available Magnetic Ride ControlTM and a first-in-class Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.

o Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension: Available on the Z71 and High Country trims, the first-in-class Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension optimizes ride height
and comfort by adjusting the suspension to driving conditions. The system is able to adjust the vehicles height, raising Suburban to provide more clearance when driving
conditions are rough, or lowering it to enhance aerodynamics and improve efficiency. When parked, the vehicle can also be lowered to make getting into and out of your
Suburban even easier.
▪ Interior: The All-New Suburban offers best-in-class second-row leg room, a newly expanded third row and best-in-class cargo volume, so you’ll have plenty of room for anyone – or anything– that comes along for the ride.
o Cargo Storage: Best-in-class cargo volume of up to 144.7 cu. Ft.
o Third-Row Leg Room: The third row has been enhanced on the 2021 model to offer a more comfortable chair height long with more leg room than the previous generation
o Power Sliding Center Console: The available power sliding center console can automatically slide back up to in 10 inches, giving you a convenient place to store items
between the seats while also helping to provide a secure, hidden storage drawer for your valuables.

▪ Technology:
o Rear-Seat Media System: Newly available, the Rear-Seat Media System keeps your passengers entertained with a pair of 12.6-inch diagonal LCD HD touch-screens capable of displaying their own content. To help keep everyone connected, the screens can share content from one to another or share navigation points with the front-seat passengers by sending them to the Infotainment system.
o Head-Up Display: Chevrolet keeps drivers safe by allowing them to stay informed while keeping their eyes on the road with the available class-leading 15-Inch diagonal multi-color Head-Up Display that can project turn-by-turn directions, safety alerts, incoming calls and more onto the windshield.

o HD Camera Views: With class-leading nine camera views, confidently maneuvering this vehicle anywhere.
o Trailering: The available Advanced Trailering System features an in-vehicle app that offers customized trailer profiles, pre-departure checklists, and trailer tire pressure/temperature monitoring so that you’re ready when it’s time to head to the lake for the weekend.
o Apple CarPlay/Android Auto: New phone integration features available on select MyLink infotainment systems are CarPlay and Android Auto. Both applications enable phone users to display certain apps and functionality from their phone on the vehicle‘s infotainment display, allowing them to control those apps and functions via the vehicle‘s infotainment system touchscreen or voice commands.
o 4G LTE WiFi: Enables drivers to explore new features like a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot capable of pairing up to seven devices, as well as improved access to existing OnStar safety and security services.
▪ Safety & Driver Assistance: The All-New Suburban offers safety and driver assistance features designed to help you and your passengers stay safe while you’re on the road. Features such as Automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator and intellibeam auto high beams all come standard.

After a 4 hour drive. I arrived at the Crown Plaza, Lake Placid, and went for a walk to explore the property and take in the view of Moin Street. Here is the itinerary for a low stress weekend. There was enough time to explore and rest.

It’s worth a visit just to ride the newly-remodeled scenic elevator that takes you to the sky deck of the 120-meter ski jumping tower. Amazing views!
