5 Skincare Tips To Beat Winter Dryness
Are you struggling with dry, irritated, and lackluster skin? With winter in full swing cold outdoor temps and indoor heating can have a big impact on your skin. We asked for some skin-saving tips from Berenice S. Rothenberg, Certified Clinical Electrologist (CCE), a FEHS licensed cosmetologist and a member of some of the most prestigious electrolysis societies in the country.
“Dry heat, change in altitude, stress are all factors which will change skin texture and appearance. When the seasons change, we must alter the skincare routines,” says Rothenberg.
1. Be Gentle
Exfoliate less often and be gentle with your skin. “Remember, it’s your face, not the floor. Don’t be rough,” says Rothenberg.
2. Avoid Hot Water
Avoid the temptation to take a shower that is too hot because it can ultimately dry out the skin. Keep it a little less hot & don't forget to be gentle post-shower and pat dry!
3. Update Skincare
This is the time to switch to richer products. What might be too heavy in the summer may be perfect for winter!
4. Sunscreen
Don’t skip your daily SPF! Remember to apply sunblock at all times to avoid skin damage.
5. Get Regular Facials
The HydraFacial at Berenice Electrolysis & Personal Beauty Center uses an aesthetic technology that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, hydration, and antioxidant protection to result in clear, hydrated, and soothed skin.
The process is non-invasive and non-irritating while it moisturizes the skin with natural serums suitable for most skin types, including aging, sensitive, oily/acne-prone, and very dry skin. Following the treatment, there is a noticeable improvement in the appearance of fine lines, brown spots, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
