Fight Back Against Hair Loss Myths

Man’s greatest fear? Hair loss! We asked Dr. Robert Leonard to expose the truths and mythssurrounding hair loss in men:

Myth: Wearing a baseball cap or hats will cause thinning hair and lossof hair.

Hatsoff to this myth!  No matter what your mother has told you, wearing a hatdoes not cause hair to thin or fallout.
Myth:  Smoking cigarettes causes hair loss
Let’sface it; cigarettesmoking is medically
BAD for everything, including your hair.  Recent studies have found sufficient evidence toclaim there is a significant link between smoking and hairloss. It's still uncertain whether theconnection is due to the effects of tobacco toxins, but it is probably due tothe fact that nicotine constricts blood vessel throughout the body, includingthose directly affecting individual hairfollicles.
Myth:  Standing on your headduring workout sessions will help your hairto grow.

Althoughincrease in themicrocirculation to the follicles does help to decrease hair loss (as is affected bylow level laser therapy), standing on your head does makes blood flow to thehead, but it has not been shown to be of any benefit with hair loss.
